Paso Robles for Thanksgiving

This was the first year our kids had plans with their significant others and families or just had their own plans. Moving forward, even years will be ours and odd years will be their significant other's families' for turkey day. With that, we took it and ran with it! We made plans with our brother/brother-in-law and his girlfriend finding full hook-up rv spaces for Thanksgiving weekend in Paso Robles, California.

Cava Robles RV Resort is located in Paso Robles which is wine country. It is approximately a six hour drive from Vegas. To avoid traffic and a rain storm that was brewing, we opted to leave early on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving day. Scenery was nice as we traveled on highways we hadn't been on before. One of the most striking views was that of all the windmills of the Mojave Wind Farm, also known as the Alta Wind Energy Center (AWEC). Turns out AWEC is the second largest onshore wind farm in the world!

The rain started falling about 30 minutes from the rv resort, but broke as we arrived to Cava Robles. We checked in at the Welcome Center and headed straight to our rv spot to set up before the rains started again. The rv spaces were of a generous size with a concrete pad, easy to access hook-ups, and a picnic table with a landscaped island separating each space. The dog run, bathrooms, pool and barbecues were all within walking distance.

We turned on the electric fireplace and warmed up with some hot chocolate as we waited for brother and girlfriend to arrive.
